Hi everyone!

This post is just to let you know that we haven't forgotten about you. We're still working on the logistics of putting together a big pinch-hitters post, or perhaps doing several smaller posts per category. Whichever it is, the post(s) will most likely go up next week, so we'd be really grateful if you could keep an eye on this comm. I was definitely overwhelmed at the answers we got to the last post, and people's willingness to help. ♥

To the people who have offered to pinch-hit on the previous post: if you haven't received an answer yet, that's probably because we haven't received an answer from the bidder in question. There is definitely an amount of mea culpa there - RL got in the way, and I apologise to the people who had to wait for an answer! But mostly, though, the previous post involved offerers who were kind enough to let us know they were defaulting - and it took us a bit to manage contacting the bidders in question.

In that light, I would like to point out we keep getting messages from people that either e-mails or PM notifications land in their junk mail (I have personal experience with the former, at least), so it might be a good idea to check your junk mail regularly, however you're involved in this auction, or in anything else, really. Also, if you don't receive an answer from me in 48 hours, feel free to send a reminder, or a comment somewhere in case I didn't receive your original message.

As for people who reported defaults on the appropriate post: I'm finishing contacting the handful of offerers left tonight - I'm not contacting each of the people reporting separately simply because we don't have anything to say until we receive a reply (in which case we will contact you asap), but we're definitely working through them.

Thank you so much for your patience, everyone. We really appreciate the support we've received so far! You're all wonderful.

(Feel free to leave your questions here!)

I was gone from lj for a little while, but I'm happy to pinch hit a fic if you still need people! =)

That would be wonderful! We'll put up a list with fics that need pinch-hitting next week, but thank you already for offering. :D

Hey! I PM'd you and I believe I e-maled the gmail account about my situation. I know you're busy but if you could confirm and/or deny if you received my problem that would be terrific :)

Thanks and keep up the great work!

Hi! :o) I'm sorry, I went through my inbox twice and can't find anything since the last time we interacted (or is that what you're referring to... ?). Only two mods have access to the gmail account, so for purposes of speed, could I possibly ask you to PM me again? (Or you can also e-mail me at rane_ab at hotmail dot com, if you'd rather.) Sorry for the bother - if you'd rather not, I'll contact one of the mods with access to the mailbox so they can retrieve your mail!

I left a comment saying my offerer wasn't replying to me and I still haven't recieved my item. I haven't heard anything back from you guys.
Here is my comment

Hi! :o) I sent you an e-mail on 28/03, but never received a reply. I've just resent it and added a new message - please let me know should you not have received it!

:/
I still haven't gotten it. That's so weird. Maybe you can try my other email. It's g.tanya@hotmail.com

Done! Hopefully that'll work better, since I use hotmail, as well. If you still haven't received it, it might be worth it to check your junk mail? I know a lot of people have had problems with that. Let me know if you can't find it anywhere. :o)

Hello there! I'm sure you get a bunch of comments so maybe mine just got lost in the shuffle. But I commented here and I have not heard anything back yet. Just curious, maybe there's something I missed.

Hi! :o) Your comment didn't get lost in the shuffle - sadly, we simply haven't heard back from your offerer. We didn't specifically contact everyone whose offerer didn't get back to us - initially because it was hard to tell when an offerer wouldn't reply (as we got some very late answers), and now because we have about 70-80 defaults. I hope it was understood from the defaults thread that offers we didn't get a reply to would automatically be put up for pinch hitting. On that note, many apologies for taking so long with that! I would really appreciate it if you could give me a few more specifics on what it is you're looking for, though? Do you want banners/icons from a specific fandom? Are you looking for both banners and icons? That sort of thing, so a pinch hitter would know what to expect. :)

Okay, good to know! I just wasn't sure when I could expect to hear something. Thank you for responding so quickly though and sorry it took me so long to comment back. I picked out pictures for one banner and the rest were for icons. I had a variety of fandoms, but I could definitely narrow it down to my biggest interests at the moment - Supernatural and Friday Night Lights - to make it easier for someone stepping in. If/when you need anything else from me, just let me know. Thanks again!

Hi. I was one of the people listed on your first list of pinch-hitters needed, but have heard nothing back since I replied to your PM asking for more details. Did that get lost, or has it just not been possible to find anyone to fill in?

Hi. I tried to reach you on the previous post but can't find my comment there now and have had no reply from you, so here goes again. I'm also by now thoroughly confused about the process, and am using a form from months ago; apologies if that's not what I should be doing at this stage.

My LJ name: solo____
My e-mail (should you have PM'ing blocked): me.n.thee@gmail.com (though I don't have PM'ing blocked, email is normally easier, IMO)
Offeror’s LJ name: extraonions
Thread of the offer: http://community.livejournal.com/help_haiti/3370.html?thread=4199978#t4199978
Offer that you agreed on (info necessary to a pinch-hitter): $30 for a fairly simple CSS design of webpage and converting existing pages (about 10) to that design.
I’ve last contacted them/had contact with them (or any other info you want to supply): They last contacted me (upon enquiry) on 1 March, saying they were almost done. I sent further enquiries in April.

rane_ab, I have left a previous message and PM'ed you, but no response. Trying again. Here is the form for my default from the auction.

My LJ name: m_lasha
My e-mail (should you have PM'ing blocked): PM is not blocked, but my e-mail: m_lasha @ livejournal.com
Offeror’s LJ name: strippedpink
Thread of the offer: http://community.livejournal.com/help_haiti/1823.html?thread=93727#t93727
Offer that you agreed on (info necessary to a pinch-hitter): $130 for J2 fiction. Pinch hitter can contact me about fandoms and pairings as I am willing to have story in another fandom I like.
I’ve last contacted them/had contact with them: After auction we agreed the story would be due at the end of March, that did not happen. I have repeatedly contacted strippedpink to try and work something out, including up to 3 weeks ago. She will not answer e-mails, posts or PMs from me now.

You posted this a month ago, will the pinch hitting post be up anytime soon? :)

Are we supposed to have heard by now if we bid and paid and never got anything?

Hi. Would I be right in assuming that since nothing has happened since this post, nothing will happen in the future? I contacted you about a default and had hoped that your continuing silence had something to do with chasing the person up, but I doubt that now. I am considering trying to get what I need from help_pakistan, obviously with an explanation of what happened here because I can't afford to have it happen again. If anything is still moving here, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know in the next few days. Thanks.

ditto

:(

I don't regret a cent of what I gave, but it still makes me sad that somebody would offer up something -- and what I bid on was a THING that they already HAD, there were pictures and everything!! -- and then not follow through.

Hi there! I am truly sorry that the pinch-hitters post hasn't got off the ground. I've been the only person active on the comm/project for quite some time, and I admit that I just... burned out, at some point, and then got caught in a cycle of exams and resists (which start again for me on Monday, so I'm sadly not in a position to do anything now, either :(). I realise these are all personal issues which are not your problem, nor help you in any way, but there it is, and I can only apologise.

I did, however, contact all of the offerers which were reported to us as defaults, both by PM and e-mail, and got back to the bidders if I got an answer back. If you haven't heard from me, that means your offerer never got back to me, which, to be honest, very few offerers did.

Sadly, there is no way to force people to deliver on their offer for auctions such as these, so pinch-hitting is the only option. I really do hope to get a pinch-hitting post organised sometime in late September, if people are still willing to help, but I can't guarantee someone will be able to fulfil the offer you bid on. I'm sorry, I wish I were able to give you a more definite answer, but all I can tell you is that the specific offerer you bid on seems very unlikely to come through, if they haven't replied to either of us.

Believe me, I wish there were a way to guarantee people did deliver or that the same won't happen elsewhere, but all we have to work with is good faith, and it's a fault, that, as far as I'm aware, no one has yet been able to fix for this type of auctions.

Hello my dear, just wanted to let you know that if you need assistance with getting pinch hitting sorted in September I'm happy to help out, both with pinch hitting and with some of the writing-based/podfic-based (if necessary) pinch hits themselves.

*hugs*
