If you would like to offer something tasty - either home-made or a "local" treat or gift pack - please comment here with your offering.

Since we are going to have a second round of auctions later this winter, the goal for this round will be for things that can be delivered by February 14, although if you want to offer something with a later delivery date, please indicate that in the Additional Info section. Also, if you are offering more than one item, or would like to indicate a "reserve" of up to $50, please indicate so in the Additional Info section.

This auction will close on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at approximately noon Eastern Standard Time.

Bidding Rules

Bid by commenting to the Offering post.

Bids must be raised by at least a dollar per bid

Please do not delete comment containing a bid - if you have an issue, please comment to your bid explaining what happened, or contact a Comm mod.

I am offering: a package of homemade and carefully packaged French macarons in the flavor of your choosing. (macarons are delicate meringue like cookies made with nut flour--usually almond, and filled with a buttercream, ganache, or caramel--combinations limited only by one's imagination. I can make suggestions if needed.)

examples (not made by me):

Additional Info (optional): I will pay shipping in the US or Canada. (These are probably too delicate for shipping outside US/Canada)

Starting Bid: $20

I am offering: a batch homemade vanilla sables (makes a lot of cookies)

Additional Info (optional): Sables are French butter cookies similar to shortbread, but with a slightly sandy texture. I use all organic ingredients. I worked as a professional baker after I finished my undergrad.

OK, I'll take the $15 starting bid for this one.

I am offering: A care-package of New Orleans foods. You can pick your favorites, or I'll just put in a mix - pralines, king cake, beinet mix, chicory coffee, or anything else you can think of.

I'll ship within North America, or overseas for an additional $10 added to the winning amount.

Starting Bid: $5

I am offering: Homemade caramels, box of 40 pieces. All regular, all chocolate, or a mix of vanilla and chocolate. The caramels are soft, rich, and made from a Martha Stewart recipe.

Additional Info (optional): I can do 5 of these (a batch of regular and a batch of chocolate make about 200 pieces of candy). I've had a bad experience shipping food outside the US, so US residents only. I will pay shipping. Or I can do a larger package for someone, if they want more in the box- I guess it would really depend on the interest and which method will raise more?

Starting Bid: $5 for a box if doing 5 of 40 (or just do a flat rate of 10$ for the first five people?), or $15 for a box of 100?

I am offering: 3 dozen oatmeal peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (homemade) either full fat or with half the shortening replaced by applesauce. I've had people try to bang my door down when they knew I was making these (um, to get some, not to tell me to stop). beanpot and holdouttrout are among the many who can attest to the tastiness.

Additional Info (optional): Limited to the US and Canada due to shipping (I'll pay). I'll offer one to each of the top two bidders.

Starting Bid: $20

I am offering: Homemade organic granola, and homemade mostly-organic granola bars:

The granola contains thick-rolled oats, millet, flax seed, sesame seed, kashi (buckwheat groats), coconut (optional), nuts (pecan, walnut, almonds, combo - your choice), raisins (optional), dried cranberries (optional), spices (cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and/or cloves), honey and sunflower oil. The granola bars contain the same ingredients except for the dried fruit and coconut (I suppose I can include them but I like the texture better without) plus brown sugar, which is the only non-organic ingredient. I can easily include or not include things, as you choose. The granola bars are solid but chewy, and last for at least 6 months if stored in a cool place.

Additional Info (optional): I can make 4 batches of either a pound of granola or 12 granola bars (about a pound). I will include the recipe, if you like! I will pay shipping in the US.

Starting Bid: $6

I'll bid $10 for a set of granola bars :)

Paradise Coconut Macaroons - Approx 2.5 dozen
White Chocolate Cherry Macadamia Chunkies - approx 2.5 dozen

I am offering: One (1) batch of two dozen (24) flavored sugar cookies (winner's choice of peppermint, orange, lemon, vanilla, almond), made from scratch. These are eyes-roll-in-back-of-the-head good cookies, and can be made either thin and crispy or thicker and moister.

Fandoms (if appropriate): N/A.

Additional Info (optional): Cookies contain dairy, egg and wheat flour. I have a shared kitchen in which the following has been cooked or used in the last six months, off the top of my head: peanuts, tree nuts, meat (chicken, beef, pork, fish, shellfish).

If you live/work within a 50 mile radius of Richmond, VA, I will drive the cookies out to your house, business, house or business of your choice on request.

I will ship to Canada, Mexico and the non-continental US.

Starting Bid: $5

I am offering:
Brunch care package! Featuring two loaves of homemade breakfast bread (choice of strawberry, pumpkin, apple or cinnamon) shipped in light foil pans and a half-dozen genuine New York H&H Bagels (flavors of choice, of course).

Additional Info (optional): Since these items do have a life expectancy, I will pay for overnight shipping to the highest bidder. Unfortunately, I think probably shipping outside the US would not be feasible.
