Offering Words (Thread #3)

If you are posting a new Offering of Words, please post it on this thread. Do not re-post things you posted on the other thread - that one will stay live for new bids and comments.

If you have any questions, please do not ask them on this post - ask them here instead.

If you would like to offer words - fanfic, original fic, a printed book or printed fanfic, beta reading services, podficcing services, non-fanfic editing services or the like, please use the template below to offer your words or word-related services. If you're offering a story, feel free to provide a maximum and/or minimum word count.

Since we are going to have a second round of auctions later this winter, the goal for this round will be for things that can be delivered by February 14, although if you want to offer something with a later delivery date, please indicate that in the Additional Info section. Also, if you are offering more than one item, or would like to indicate a "reserve" of up to $50, please indicate so in the Additional Info section.

This auction will close on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at approximately noon Eastern Standard Time.

Saturday Morning Update

I said in a comment to someone yesterday that if we were at 3000 comments in the second Offering Words thread by the time I woke up in the morning, I'd make a third thread.

We're at 2994. Close enough, right? So here is Offering Words Thread Number Three. Wow.

While I'm doing an update, please Follow us on Twitter and check out the items that have been tagged on del.icio.us. And scroll down the comm's main page for links to translations of the FAQ into languages as diverse as Welsh, Catalan, Tagalog, Spanish, French and Italian; a team is working on Chinese. We're still looking for other translations, so if you can translate, please let us know.

We are working on a process for notifying winners and confirming donations - expect an announcement of an email address to which you'll be able to send your confirmations.

One thing we definitely want to do is allow people to send in conformations of donations while redacting or masking their full name/address/phone number, as that's often part of the confirmation email. If anyone is able to do a tutorial - with pictures - on how to use the Paint program that comes with Windows, or how to use the standard Apple program, to cover one's name with black or use the smudging tool, that would be terrific. We intend to ask people to have either their entire first name or the first letter of their first and last name visible, as well as their state/province/country, but the rest can be masked. It doesn't have to, of course, but it can be.

Again, I'm closing this post to comments, so we can keep all the questions here.

One way to donate...

In the Lightning Round and later this week in the final round, is to donate to UNICEF.

We've set up a page specifically for this comm; check it out here.

We've set a goal of $5000 but it would be terrific if we could get above that by the end of the week. You don't have to be in the US to donate.

Of course, donations to other agencies and charities are fine, wonderful, fantastic and appreciated, but UNICEF is a workable option for people in so many different countries.

We cannot make it impossible to delete bids or posts.

But when you delete a bid, the person who bid before you is now in the lead. But when that person thought he or she had been outbid, they may've gone on to bid on something else, and now they are - to their surprise - in the lead on something where they thought they were losing. And that's not fair to them.

If you need to withdraw a bid, please comment to this thread. All comments are screened when posted but they may become visible in the process of replying to them to resolve the situation.

Thanks, everyone for being so understanding, helpful and supportive! Have you seen the offerings tagged on del.icio.us or visited the Lightning Round today?
