Questions! And a request!

If you have a question about which category something fits into, or about the bidding process, please ask it here.

ETA: If you don't specify the currency for bidding, we will automatically presume that it's US dollars. If people want to use a currency converter, to keep things even we can use the cnnfn.com one, or Paypal's automated process.

And is anyone able to do some simple "Help Haiti" icons that people can use on LJ, DW, etc.? Much appreciation to anyone who can!

At this point (5 PM on Wednesday) I am not monitoring all comments to every post - I've turned off LJ's emailing to me all the comments for all the offering posts (except the lightning round), so if there's something I need to see, make sure it's a comment to one of the other posts.

THANKS SO MUCH TO EVERYONE for offering, bidding, pimping and cheering people on. The news out of Haiti is so grim - hopefully this will be a way for so many people around the world to help.

My winning bidder has not contacted me yet, nor responded to my attempt at contact.

Auction thread here: http://community.livejournal.com/help_haiti/3155.html?thread=1662803#t1662803

What do you do if two of the people that bid on your services haven't contacted you at all?

Have you tried contacting them first? It's possible they just haven't had time yet - or haven't had time to make their donation yet, and think they have to do that before contacting you. I've also heard from someone that confirmation e-mails from Doctors Without Borders are taking ages, so they might just be waiting for that, too?

Hey, two comments from people on the lightning thread:

From lied_ohne_worte:

"This isn't a question, but a tiny note on this post, which is why I'll post it here - it says "(we'll cover the credit card processing fees)", which I assume is because this line was copied from an official LJ statement? That line might perhaps confuse people, who might think that help_haiti covers those fees, and wonder how that works."

From copinggoggles:

"I spy a small coding whoops - hh_kink should be hh_kink. Thanks, mods!"

Re: LR2:EB delicious

Off to add it in, thanks! And can you ping me on gtalk at heidi8 today?

How long is the new Lightening Round going to be open? It doesn't say on the post.

Hi! :o) From one of the (much) earlier posts:

We had been planning on waiting until February to do another Lightning Round, but LiveJournal's Help Haiti V-Gift Drive next week seems to call our for drabbles and drawbles. So from Thursday, January 28th through Saturday, January 30th, we'll have a whirlwind Lightning Round, and we'll encourage you to make your donations in the form of v-gifts to your friends.

Technically, the V-Gift drive ends on Saturday 4 pm PST, but since this round opened a bit earlier as well, I don't know if it'll be closed on the dot, but it should stay open till sometime on Saturday.

If you need something more precise, I'll leave it to heidi8. :D

Hello. :)

I am an offerator, and my offer was bid on and won. I have contacted my bidder, she said (on the 24th) she would get confirmation to me as soon as she had donated. I haven't heard from her since.

I will be very happy to hear your advice on what to do next. Tkx~

Hey, have you tried contacting her since then? Technically, she's got till Feb 5 to donate, so it's possible she hasn't got around to it yet. Maybe you could send her a little PM/e-mail saying you're a little worried since you haven't heard back and just want to make sure she's still interested?

A couple quick things for the next update:

a.) there's now a collection for the 'boogaloo' round at AO3.

b.) I still have a bunch of invites for anyone who needs them. :)

Cool, what's the exact link that we should use?

And should we just point people to your LJ profile page so they can PM you to get an invite?

Er, sorry if this is completely obvious, but is there/what is the deadline for fic that's been won to be posted? I know my winning bidder and have been in contact and it's all good, but I just want to make sure I'm within the time frame. Was the deadline given for fic February 20th or am I imagining it?

Hi! The goal we set was February 14th, but if your bidder is OK with a later date, so are we. ;o)

I was wondering whether a mod can confirm perfectly_n0rml's payment? Thanks!

Do you mean for this thread? If so, yes, it seems a $15 donation was made to DWB. :o)

I deleted my two previous comments since they are no longer valid:

At this moment, we are up to date and Laura has added all sorts of nifty things (and keeps adding, on the admin side of things ;o)), but right now, people can search on fandom/name/etc - pretty much anything they want. I don't know if you want to test it yet, but it's possible, if you want to. :D The site is here, if you don't have a link handy. It looks pretty cool. :o) I'll update it again in a few hours - and then I'll go to sleep. *g*

Edit: up to date as of now (till nightrose_spn's comment.)

I've been waiting on the domain name to propagate but it hasn't yet, so I'm going to post it this morning as more of an "alpha" test than a beta. I think it looks fantastic!

I've not yet received any contact from my winning bidder. I've attempted to contact them, but haven't gotten a response. Would you be able to let me know if you recieved notification of their bid? Thread is here: http://community.livejournal.com/help_haiti/2138.html?thread=1272154#t1272154

They do have until the end of the week to confirm their bid, and we are going to do follow-up notes from the mods to people this week to chase their bids and try and get everything collected.

If they default by then, though, the next highest bidder will have a chance to win the item if they pay the pledge within a set number of days....

Haven't been able to get ahold of my bidder! What next?

And we haven't notified you that they confirmed their bid directly to us? They do have until the end of the week to confirm their bid, and we are going to do follow-up notes from the mods to people this week to chase their bids and try and get everything collected.

If they default by then, though, the next highest bidder will have a chance to win the item if they pay the pledge within a set number of days....

I have a question about my bidder.

He/She has confirmed their bid, but has given me no instructions on what they would like- no prompt, no list of "no goes", not even the fandom they want it in.

I've tried contacting them twice now. Any suggestions?

I don't think there's anything you can do if you've already tried contacting them twice. It's possible something unexpected happened in their life and they suddenly got busy, or that they've lost their internet connection, and haven't had a chance to contact you yet. I'd say, wait and see, though if they contact you at a later date, I'm sure they'd also understand if you finish the piece you are writing/drawing/? at some time past the deadline. :o)

Hey, there! I was wondering... I've already finished the fic I offered, and my winning bidder has already confirmed her donation. I won't be able to to post the fic for the 14th, so could I give it to her right now?

You definitely don't have to wait - the 14th is an ideal "final day" to post things - we wanted to have some sort of deadline - but you can do it any time.

How do I send you people a vgift? I can't find the right info.

Just go here, find the gift you want, click add, put help_haiti in the prompt box and follow the checkout process.

And thanks in advance!
